Got questions? Here are the answers.
How is Lectra different from ChatGPT or other AI study apps?
ChatGPT answers one question and forgets it. Quizlet hands you decks built by other students for other exams. Anki makes you build every card yourself. Most AI study apps are LLM wrappers that fragment your course into disconnected calls, you finish them feeling studied, but unsure. Lectra is a system, not a toolkit. You upload your course material slides, notes, your professor’s past exams. Lectra digests the full document, extracts every concept and learning target, runs it through seven verification layers, and delivers a complete learning path you can finish with confidence. The promise is structural: when the path is complete, you have covered what must be covered.
What does “90%+ coverage” actually mean?
When you submit your material, Lectra extracts your learning targets: Every concept, Every formula, Every question pattern your professor has asked before. Then we verify, across seven layers, that your generated learning path covers those targets completely. “90%+” refers to the proportion of extracted learning targets that are covered in the final path; the rest are content the system flagged as out-of-scope, irrelevant or duplicate.
How does the 7-layer verification work?
Seven independent checks run on every uploaded document before we generate your learning path. Each layer answers a specific question: 1. Source ingestion, did we read your file completely, with no truncation or skipped pages? 2. Structural parse, did we identify the document’s logical structure (chapters, sections, worked examples)? 3. Concept extraction, did we pull every distinct concept, not just the headers? 4. Question-pattern match, if you uploaded past exams, did we map their format and phrasing? 5. Redundancy check, did we deduplicate concepts that appear across multiple uploads? 6. Gap detection are there learning targets we extracted that no practice question covers yet? 7. Completion verification, does the final learning path cover every target produced in layers 1 through 6? If any layer fails, you get a notification telling you what was missed and why. Not a silently incomplete path.
Does Lectra access other students' exam material or share mine?
No. Lectra builds your learning path from material you upload, your lecture slides, your professor's past exams, your notes. We do not pull material from other users, and we do not share your uploads with anyone. Your exam preparation is yours.
What file types can I upload?
• PDFs • Word documents (.doc, .docx) • PowerPoint slides (.pptx) • Plain text files (.txt) • Photos of handwritten notes, single page or multi-page, camera or gallery • Your professor’s past exams, for style-mirrored practice Coming soon: audio recordings (lectures, podcasts), video lectures, YouTube and Vimeo links, and over 1,800 additional content sources. If your professor put it on the syllabus, Lectra can probably read it. If you are not sure, upload the file, we will tell you in seconds whether it parses.
